The Siddapura police have apprehended a 34-year-old security guard, Narayanaswamy, for stealing ₹10.9 lakh from the office of an auditor where he was employed. Following a complaint, police tracked down the accused, who is a resident of Chikkaballapur.
Narayanaswamy reportedly used a portion of the stolen money to buy a car worth ₹5.8 lakh and began working as a cab driver. He was arrested at a roadside hotel in Kasturinagar while having tea, along with the car.
Police recovered ₹3.5 lakh in cash from the boot space of the vehicle. It was revealed that Narayanaswamy had spent the remainder of the money on gold valuables and an expensive phone. A senior officer confirmed the details of the case.
