Shimoga : In a shocking turn of events, Srujan, the accused in the Soumya murder case, has confessed to the crime. Shimoga SP Mithun Kumar revealed on Thursday that Srujan admitted to murdering Soumya during the police investigation.
Srujan and Soumya had been in a relationship for three years, but things took a dark turn when Srujan began an affair with another woman. Soumya, who was studying nursing, wanted Srujan to marry her, but he refused. The situation escalated when Srujan took Soumya on a bike ride from Sagar, where they got into a fight. In a fit of anger, Srujan hit Soumya, and after she fell, he stomped on her neck, killing her.
After the murder, Srujan transported Soumya’s body to the ocean, retrieved his car, and buried the body in a canal at Jaljeevan Works. The police have since exhumed the body in the presence of Soumya’s family members.
The case was registered at the Rippon Town police station after Soumya’s family filed a complaint when she went missing on June 2. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
