In a chilling crime in Kodagu, police apprehended three suspects, including Niharika P (29), Nikhil Maireddy (28), and Ankul Rana (30), for allegedly killing Ramesh Kumar (54) from Hyderabad, motivated by a property-related dispute. Ramesh’s partially burned body was discovered in an estate near Suntikoppa on October 8, triggering an intensive investigation. Kodagu SP Ramarajan K stated that the suspects carefully planned the murder to seize around ₹8 crore from a recent property sale by Ramesh.
Authorities had to identify the victim through meticulous investigation, sifting through extensive CCTV footage and technical data. They finally linked Ramesh’s identity to a suspicious vehicle, leading to the arrests. The police revealed that Niharika, Ramesh’s third wife, conspired with her friends after allegedly luring Ramesh into the car under the pretense of a trip. The group reportedly strangled him en route, and later, they drove to the Kodagu estate to burn the body, hoping to erase evidence.
Niharika’s history reportedly includes two prior marriages and encounters with the law. She had met Ankul Rana, her accomplice, while previously jailed for a cheating case. With their arrests, Kodagu police have brought forward crucial evidence, including the car and mobile devices linked to the crime.
This shocking incident highlights the police’s success in using modern technology to untangle complex cases.
