Two men, Mohammad Jafferullah (30) and Abu Thahir (36), were arrested in R K Nagar on Sunday for illegally selling e-cigarettes. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the men, both from Mannadi, and conducted a search that led to the seizure of 476 e-cigarettes.
The sale and possession of e-cigarettes are prohibited under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, which the Centre has enforced to curb their use. Police noted that many people are unaware of the ban and are working to increase public awareness.
The authorities have emphasized that they will continue conducting raids and enforcing the ban, especially as they receive information about the use of “vapes” among youngsters.
