
Woman police officer fatally stabbed by husband in Kannur
Kasargod: In a shocking incident, a woman police officer was stabbed to death by her estranged husband at Karivellur in Kannur on Thursday evening.
The Incident
The victim, identified as Divyashree (35), was an officer at Chandera Police Station in Kasargod. She was attacked by her husband, Rajesh, an auto rickshaw driver, following a domestic dispute.
Divyashree was critically injured in the assault, sustaining severe wounds to her face and neck. She was rushed to a private hospital in Payyannur but succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Her father, Vasu, who tried to intervene, also sustained injuries.
Details of the Attack
Reports indicate that Divyashree and Rajesh had been living separately due to marital discord. On Thursday evening, Rajesh allegedly brought a talavar (traditional weapon) and attacked Divyashree at her residence.
Hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the spot, but Rajesh fled before they arrived.
Investigation Underway
The Payyannur police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for Rajesh, who remains at large. The body of Divyashree has been moved to the mortuary at Kannur Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
