Davanagere Smart City Limited (DSCL) has launched a cutting-edge smart parking system at nine key locations across the city. Residents can now book parking slots in advance through the DVG Help mobile app, streamlining traffic management and improving convenience.

The designated parking zones can accommodate up to 2,798 vehicles, including 2,421 two-wheelers. This advanced system allows motorists to reserve parking spaces ahead of time, reducing the hassle of searching for spots and promoting organized parking practices.

As Davanagere continues to grow into a bustling commercial hub, the rising number of vehicles has led to parking challenges. Although traffic authorities introduced alternate parking schemes and designated zones in market areas, over 20% of vehicles still face parking shortages. With live updates on parking availability, the smart system alleviates the stress of finding parking.

“We have installed CCTV cameras at nine parking sites, monitored from the Smart City office’s command control center,” explained Mamata, DGM of DSCL. “Our team tracks vacant spots via CCTV and updates the mobile app, allowing users to pre-book spaces.”

The app provides real-time details about available slots and their locations. Reserved spaces remain secured for arriving vehicles, helping to reduce traffic violations and congestion. Mamata noted the system has been well-received by the public, improving mobility and overall city traffic management.
