Davanagere: City police have arrested a woman who had allegedly been absconding without appearing before the court for nearly 17 years in connection with a case registered in 2009.
The accused has been identified as Vaneeshri alias Renuka, a resident of Begur Road in Davanagere.
Woman remained absconding for years
According to police, Vaneeshri had been avoiding court proceedings for nearly 17 years. Police traced and arrested her and produced her before the court on Friday.
She was reportedly wanted in connection with the case registered in 2009.
Remanded to judicial custody
After being produced before the court, Vaneeshri was remanded to judicial custody.
She was subsequently lodged in the Mangaluru District Prison.
Police have taken further action in accordance with the court proceedings.
