Delhi Minor Arrested for Murdering Doctor Over Treatment Charges
In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday for allegedly killing Dr. Javed Akhtar, a 55-year-old Unani practitioner, inside his private nursing home in Delhi. The murder occurred at Nima Hospital in the Kalindi Kunj area on Wednesday night, where the teenager, along with a friend, had gone for first-aid treatment. After receiving treatment, the boy reportedly claimed the doctor had overcharged for services, leading him to shoot the doctor.
Following the incident, the minor allegedly posted a photograph on social media with the caption: “Kar diya 2024 mein murder” (Finally committed murder in 2024). His accomplice is still on the run, but police have recovered the murder weapon.
Hospital staff reported hearing a gunshot and finding Dr. Akhtar bleeding in his cabin. The teenager had been treated at the hospital for a toe injury earlier and returned for a dressing change before the tragic event unfolded.
This incident closely follows a case in Kolkata, where a doctor was raped and murdered, sparking nationwide protests for better safety measures for healthcare workers.
