Dharwad to Host District-Level Job Fair: Thousands of Openings Expected
Dharwad: The district administration, in collaboration with the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation and zilla panchayat, is set to organize a district-level job fair in Dharwad. Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhuvanesh Patil encouraged employers to capitalize on this recruitment opportunity to onboard skilled professionals.
At a meeting with officials and industry representatives, he highlighted the Yuva Nidhi Scheme, which has benefitted over 6,000 youth in the district. He urged industries to actively participate in skill development programs to enhance employability.
Dharwad, known for its abundant human resources, should be leveraged effectively by offering relevant training, Patil stressed. All degree and ITI students in the district will be informed about the job fair, with bus transportation arranged from campuses to the venue.
The event is expected to draw 8,000 to 10,000 job seekers, along with industrialists from the Belur, Tarihal, and Sattur industrial zones. Over 60 industries will participate, submitting job requirements in advance. Some companies plan to hire unskilled candidates and provide on-the-job training.
However, Shirish Uppin, VP of Dharwad Industrial Development Centre, pointed out a recurring challenge—many job seekers leave or switch jobs after training, causing disruptions for employers. He requested addressing this issue at the job fair.
