Dharwad: The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a 15-day national campaign aimed at transforming agriculture, was officially launched in Kurubagatti village of Dharwad taluk on Thursday. The initiative is jointly spearheaded by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad, with the support of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The programme was inaugurated by Professor DN Kambrekar, senior scientist and Head of KVK, in the presence of a large gathering of farmers. VKSA aims to bridge the gap between agricultural research institutions and grassroots-level farmers by providing hands-on scientific guidance just ahead of the kharif season.
As part of this initiative, expert teams comprising agri scientists, field officers, and progressive farmers will conduct daily field visits and interactive sessions in villages. The national campaign deploys 2,000 teams countrywide, each conducting three sessions daily, with an ambitious goal of reaching 10 to 12 lakh farmers every day. The campaign targets to benefit 1 to 1.5 crore farmers across 700+ districts by its conclusion.
In Dharwad district, two dedicated teams will visit six villages daily, engaging around 1,200 farmers each day. These sessions will include farm visits, demonstrations of modern equipment, group discussions, and experience sharing by successful farmers.
VKSA is expected to usher in a wave of scientific and climate-resilient farming practices, empowering farmers with region-specific knowledge and modern inputs.
