Dharwad: In two devastating road accidents in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, at least 13 people lost their lives in a span of two days, leaving families shattered and communities in mourning.
In Karnataka’s Dharwad district, a horrific collision between a car and a truck occurred near Ingalhalli village on National Highway 218 on Tuesday. Officers from the Hubballi Rural Police Station quickly reached the site and transported the deceased to KMC RI Hospital in Hubballi.
All five occupants of the car, who were en route from Sagara to Bagalkot, died on the spot. Initially, the identities of the victims were unknown, but they were later confirmed as Shweta (29), Anjali (26), Sandeep (26), Vitthal (55), and Shashikala (40)—all residents of Sagara in Shivamogga district.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, six people were killed late Monday night in the Madanpur police station area. A speeding car collided with a motorbike near the Barkheda Jaipal petrol pump. Four young men riding the bike were on their way to a wedding when the accident happened.
All four bikers—Akash, Abhishek, Dinesh, and Ravi—residents of Nazarpur under Tilhar police limits, died on the spot. Two passengers in the Eco car also lost their lives, and another person sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Adding to the recent tragedies, another accident in Moradabad claimed a mother and her child’s life when a container truck struck a family on a bike.
