The Passport Service Center (PSK) located at the IT Park in Hubli has been witnessing a steady increase in the number of new passport applicants. Currently, around 250 to 300 people who applied online for a normal passport a few days ago are having their documents verified on a daily basis. This number has now risen to approximately 450, including those who have applied for Tatkal passports.
“Unlike the passport service centers in Bangalore, where applicants often have to wait for several days, there is no such delay at the Hubli PSK. Many individuals choose to apply at this center with the expectation of receiving their passports quickly and completing the renewal process efficiently,” stated an official from the Bangalore Regional Passport Office.
For those who have applied for a new passport online, there is no need to endure long waiting periods. They simply need to present themselves with all necessary documents on the designated day and time set by authorities at the Hubli Seva Kendra. Document verification will be conducted at the police station level, and within a few days, registered mail will deliver their passports directly to their provided address.
“Most applicants seeking passports are from the Muslim community, with many intending to go abroad for employment purposes. Some others plan overseas trips or pursue higher education abroad,” mentioned an employee of the Passport Seva Kendra.
“The standard application fee for obtaining a regular passport is ₹1,500, while an additional fee of ₹2,000 must be paid for Tatkal passports. The actual fee amount varies depending on factors such as the count of passport book pages, desired validity period, and applicant’s age,” explained another official.
Applicants can expect to receive their regular passports within one month if all submitted documents are accurate and complete. Applications through Tatkal can even be processed within one week upon payment of applicable additional fees.
