The Hubballi-Dharwad police department and district administration continue their efforts to raise awareness about drug abuse and traffic safety. At the Police Run Marathon-2025, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu GRJ urged youth participation in making the twin cities crime-free.
“This initiative should not be limited to a single day. Real change happens when awareness translates into action at both individual and societal levels,” she emphasized. She commended the police department for its effective crime control, noting a decline in criminal activities.
Organized by the police commissionerate and district police, the marathon received enthusiastic participation from youth groups. Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar highlighted the importance of public engagement in fostering a safe, peaceful, and crime-free environment. He stressed that physical and mental well-being are essential for a better society.
Superintendent of Police Gopal Bykod pointed out that around 500 road fatalities occur annually in Dharwad district, primarily due to drunk driving, speeding, and negligence. He urged youth to prioritize road safety by wearing helmets and seat belts.
With strong public cooperation, officials aim to make Hubballi-Dharwad safer, more disciplined, and drug-free.
