Bengaluru, infamous for its congestion and accidents, will enforce hefty fines for violations like drunk driving, helmetless riding, and mobile phone usage while driving.
New Traffic Penalties:
- Drunken Driving: ₹10,000 fine and/or 6 months jail; ₹15,000 & 2 years for repeat offence.
- No Helmet: ₹1,000 fine + 3-month licence suspension.
- No Seatbelt: ₹1,000 fine.
- Using Mobile While Driving: ₹5,000 fine.
- No Valid Licence: ₹5,000 fine.
- Triple Riding: ₹1,000 fine.
- No Insurance: ₹2,000 fine, jail, or community service; ₹4,000 for repeat offence.
- No Pollution Certificate: ₹10,000 fine, jail, or community service.
- Dangerous Driving: ₹5,000 fine.
- Blocking Emergency Vehicles: ₹10,000 fine.
- Street Racing/Speeding: ₹5,000 fine.
- Overloading: ₹20,000 fine.
- Jumping Signals: ₹5,000 fine.
- Juvenile Driving: ₹25,000 fine, 3 years jail, licence ban till 25.
