ED Raids MUDA Office, Probes Karnataka CM Over Land Allotment Scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding alleged irregularities with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The agency conducted a 30-hour search at the MUDA office, spanning from Saturday morning until early Sunday.
According to Deccan Herald, this raid followed multiple unanswered communications by the ED regarding land acquisition policies. The investigation stems from a complaint by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, accusing Siddaramaiah’s wife, B M Parvathy, of improperly receiving 14 alternate land sites as compensation.
MUDA officials, including Commissioner A.N. Raghunandan and Secretary Prasanna V.K., cooperated with the probe. Parvathy has since returned the land, escalating the political controversy.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JD(S) demanded further scrutiny, questioning if the Lokayukta police, under the CM’s government, could conduct an impartial investigation.
