Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), located in Mijar, Moodbidri near Mangaluru, has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the next ten years, announced M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation. AIET, a unit of the foundation, has achieved significant milestones, including securing an A+ grade in the first cycle of NAAC reaccreditation.

Ranked in the 150-300 band under the innovation category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), AIET’s engineering departments are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college has established partnerships with prestigious organizations and institutions such as Isro-National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) Hyderabad, Regional Remote Sensing Centre Bengaluru, National Atmospheric Research Laboratories, Gadanki, Andhra Pradesh, Semi-Conductors Lab (SCL) Department of Space, Chandigarh, Defense Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, and both international and national universities including Kumamoto University Japan and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad.

AIET collaborates with companies like TCS iON, Alembic, EY, KCCI, HAL, and BEL-Bengaluru, offering higher education, skill enhancement programs, technical discussions, workshops, industry visits, internships, and faculty development programs. The institution has made notable advancements in intellectual property rights and research and development, publishing 15 patents and having eight patents granted in 2024. Additionally, AIET’s research papers are frequently published in peer-reviewed journals. A grant of ₹1.2 crore from Government Research Centres in the academic year 2023-24 underscores AIET’s dedication to innovation and technology.
