A 37-year-old Assistant Professor from Bengaluru has publicly shared his grievances about his work experience at an engineering college on LinkedIn. Despite ten years of dedicated service and positive student feedback, the professor’s requests for a salary increase were denied, and he faced disparities in pay compared to junior colleagues.
The professor detailed his commitment, including paying entry fees for student competitions out of his own pocket, working extended hours for accreditation processes, and assisting students with hackathons. He noted that his salary hike requests were consistently rejected by the new principal who took office in 2019. He also alleged that junior teachers received higher pay and that his contributions were not recognized.
In his resignation, the professor was disappointed by the lack of response from the college and claims that no one attempted to retain him. He also reported issues with his Employee Provident Fund (EPF) due to changes in salary structure, which reduced his gratuity significantly.
The post has garnered over 1,000 upvotes, with many users expressing support and calling for legal action regarding the alleged non-payment of EPF. Reactions include calls for suing the institution and remarks on the broader issue of undercompensated and overworked educators.
