Mangaluru: ASTRA 3.0, the All India Intercollegiate Sports and Cultural Fest hosted by Yenepoya Allied & Healthcare Professions, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on April 21, 2026, at the Yenepoya Soccer Ground. The grand ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries, athletes, and students from across the country, setting the stage for a vibrant celebration of talent and sportsmanship.

The event marked the beginning of a multi-day fest that brings together participants from diverse institutions to compete in sports and cultural events.

Dignitaries grace the inauguration

The inauguration was graced by Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Ifthikar Ali Ahamed, Chairman of the Allied & Healthcare Council, Karnataka. Dr. Ashwini Dutt R, Registrar of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), presided over the function.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mangaluru South) Ms. Vijayakranthi also attended the event as Chief Guest, adding significance to the occasion.

The Guests of Honour included Ms. Remona Evette Pereira, who holds a Golden Book of World Records recognition for her consecutive seven-day Bharatanatyam performance.

Leadership and organising team

The event was organised under the leadership of Dr. Sunita Saldanha, Dean of Yenepoya Allied & Healthcare Professions and Organising Chairperson of ASTRA 3.0, along with Prof. Lourdhuraj I, Principal of Yenepoya Physiotherapy College and Organising Co-Chairperson.

Their guidance and coordination ensured the successful execution of the grand inaugural ceremony.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Mr. Mohideen Sharfan S. A., Organising Sports Secretary and Assistant Professor at Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences.

A captivating dance performance by students added colour and energy to the evening, creating a festive atmosphere. The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the ASTRA 3.0 trophy by the dignitaries.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Ifthikar Ali Ahamed commended Yenepoya for providing a national platform that brings together students to showcase their talents in both sports and cultural domains.

Dr. Ashwini Dutt R, in his presidential address, emphasised the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded professionals, highlighting the role of sports and culture in holistic development.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Akshitha Devadiga, Organising Cultural Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, sponsors, and the organising team for their contributions.
