Manipal: Deepesh Deepak Shenoy, a Grade X student of T A Pai English Medium High School, Manipal, has been conferred the prestigious State-Level Hoysala Shourya Award by the Government of Karnataka for his exceptional courage and presence of mind. The honour was presented by the Department of Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens.

Award presented at ICDS Golden Jubilee celebrations
Deepesh received the accolade during the ICDS Golden Jubilee Celebrations held at the Bangalore Palace Grounds. The ceremony was graced by Sri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka; Sri D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister; and Smt Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Minister for Women and Child Development, alongside several senior dignitaries.
A historic first for the institution
Deepesh’s recognition marks a proud milestone for The Academy of General Education and T A Pai EMHS. He becomes the first student in the school’s history to receive this prestigious State-level honour. Notably, he is also the only awardee selected from all districts of Karnataka except Shimoga for the 2025–26 cycle.
The school management, Headmistress Smt Vinoda Shetty, faculty, PTA, alumni association, and students extended warm congratulations and expressed immense pride in his achievement.

Honour adds significance to upcoming Golden Jubilee
Founded in 1978 by Padmashree awardee Dr T. M. A. Pai, T A Pai English Medium High School is approaching its Golden Jubilee. In an official note, the management stated that Deepesh’s achievement has brought “special significance and joy” to the institution as it prepares for its landmark celebrations in the coming years.
Deepesh’s accomplishment stands as an inspiration to students across the State, reflecting the values of courage, integrity and service that the Hoysala Shourya Award seeks to uphold.
