Mangaluru: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College (FMHMC), a distinguished unit of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), marked its Ruby Jubilee – 40 years of dedicated service to society with a grand celebration on 14 July 2025 at the Father Muller Convention Centre, Kankanady.

Celebrating 40 years of healing and education

The day commenced with a Eucharistic celebration at 7:30 am in the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Deralakatte, led by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and President of FMCI, who also presided over the official ceremony later in the day. The event drew a host of dignitaries, alumni, faculty and well-wishers.

The formal function welcomed notable guests including Dr K M Dhawale, Chairman of Dr M L Dhawale Memorial Trust, Palghar, Mumbai as the chief guest, and Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, former FMCI Director, as guest of honour.

Honouring legacy and vision

The programme began with homage to Fr Augustus Muller and Dr Samuel Hahnemann, pioneers of the institution and homoeopathy respectively. A solemn moment was also observed in memory of departed FMHMC staff.

In his welcome address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of FMCI, highlighted the institution’s holistic commitment to healthcare and education.

Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, Principal of FMHMC, presented the College Report, showcasing the academic and research achievements of students and staff. This was followed by the release of the Ruby Jubilee Souvenir by the chief guest and other dignitaries.

Felicitation and scholarship launch

The ceremony honoured former administrators, principals, vice principals, alumni, medical superintendents, and long-serving faculty and staff, acknowledging their contributions to FMHMC’s legacy.

A major highlight of the day was the launch of the Ruby Jubilee Student Welfare Scholarship Fund by Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha. Spearheaded by FMHMC’s Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) and introduced by Dr Amitha P Baliga, the fund aims to support deserving students from financially challenged backgrounds.

Messages from dignitaries

In his address, Dr K M Dhawale recalled the early days of FMHMC and praised its journey in advancing scientific homoeopathic practice, while encouraging further expansion and innovation before the Golden Jubilee.

Rev. Fr Richard Coelho, in his congratulatory message, commended the institute for its academic growth and achievements over four decades.

Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, in his presidential address, reflected on the healing essence of homoeopathy and the remarkable impact of FMHMC in shaping healthcare through compassion and knowledge.

A vibrant cultural celebration

The celebrations culminated with an extravagant cultural programme, featuring colourful performances by students, interns, postgraduates, and staff, followed by the Institution Anthem, the National Anthem, and a celebratory dinner.

The event was hosted by Dr Deepa Pais, Dr Deeraj Fernandes, Dr Chrisel D’sa, and Mr Akhil Monteiro as masters of ceremony.
