Mangaluru: The Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College (FMHMC), Deralakatte, inaugurated the RGUHS Mangalore Zone Cricket Tournament 2025–26 with great enthusiasm at the Father Muller Stadium. The event is being held on October 17 and 21, 2025, and features participation from 10 teams representing various medical institutions under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru.

The tournament, a highlight of the intercollegiate sports calendar, celebrates not only athletic excellence but also the values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Inaugural Ceremony and Dignitaries Present

The inaugural ceremony began with a melodious invocation by Ms Shreya and team, creating an atmosphere of positivity and anticipation.

Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), inaugurated the tournament and declared it open. Rev. Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and the gathering.

The Chief Guest, Mr Mohammad Ibrahim, Head Coach of the Indian National Blind Cricket Team, expressed his joy at officiating matches at the Father Muller grounds and commended the institution’s sports infrastructure and ambience.

In his address, he highlighted two key virtues of success — Intent and Sacrifice.

“Consistency, dedication, and punctuality define true champions,” he said, urging students to carry these values both on and off the field.

He concluded by extending his best wishes to all the participating teams for a spirited and successful tournament.

Director’s Presidential Address: Balancing Work and Play

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo inspired the students with the timeless proverb,

“Work while you work, play while you play — this is the way to be cheerful and gay.”

He elaborated on its deeper meaning, encouraging participants to give their undivided attention and commitment to every endeavour they undertake.

“Discipline, time management, and mindfulness are the cornerstones of a balanced and fulfilling life,” he reminded the audience, blending motivation with moral reflection.

Mr Nikhil Samuel, Sports Secretary, Students’ Council, proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the institution, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, faculty, and participants for their support.

The formal inauguration concluded with the Institution Anthem, symbolising pride and unity within the Father Muller community.

The ceremony was efficiently compered by Ms Kristal Fernandes and Ms Sophiya, who ensured the event flowed smoothly and kept the audience engaged.
