Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna initiative on Saturday, offering free coaching for competitive exams to 6,800 students across the state.
Under this program, CRACK Academy will provide free coaching to 100 top students from each Assembly constituency, with an estimated investment of ₹34 crore. Students from class six and above can take a selection test in schools and colleges. The next 200 qualifiers will receive a 75% fee concession, while the following 500 will get a 50% concession.
CM Sukhu emphasized that the scheme will not only support students but also create job opportunities. CRACK Academy plans to open over 90 coaching centers, employing 5,000 people directly and generating indirect employment. The education department will oversee the selection exam, while the academy will prepare the test papers.
The initiative kicked off in Jawalamukhi, Kangra district, with students from 50 schools participating. Currently, 220 selected students are receiving merit-based coaching. Additionally, ₹1.5 crore has been allocated to renovate the library at Ridge, Shimla, ensuring modern learning facilities while preserving its heritage.
