The Kerala General Education Department is set to implement anti-ragging cells across state schools to address the ongoing issue of bullying in educational institutions. Minister of General Education V Sivankutty announced that senior department officials would soon present a proposal to this effect.
Despite the existence of disciplinary committees and protection groups in schools, ragging practices have not been entirely eliminated. In light of this, the state government is considering the establishment of dedicated anti-ragging cells in every educational institution. The proposal includes appointing a committee of senior officials from the General Education Department to research and finalize the structure and functioning of these cells.
Sivankutty emphasized that the goal is to foster an environment where students develop positive attitudes that can carry over into their school and college lives. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the relationship between teachers and students, ensuring that children feel comfortable discussing their issues with teachers.
