Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharanprakash Patil has issued a stern warning against efforts to tarnish the reputation of the Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). In a recent meeting with the institute’s administration, Dr. Patil emphasized that any attempts to defame KIMS would be met with strict legal action.
Dr. Patil reassured attendees of the institute’s operational efficiency and underscored the importance of integrity in staffing and procurement processes. He directed the administrative board to model KIMS as a benchmark institution, with zero tolerance for irregularities.
The minister announced the completion of the tendering process for upcoming construction projects at KIMS and stressed the need for high-quality work. He instructed board members to issue notices to contractors who fail to meet standards and to assess existing infrastructure before initiating new projects.
Additionally, Dr. Patil highlighted the necessity of improving medical facilities and maintaining smooth functioning across all committees at KIMS. He addressed concerns about ragging in medical colleges, urging the creation of a safe environment for students.
Vishwanath Itagi reported that the state government has approved the filling of 81 vacancies at KIMS, with 49 positions filled and recruitment for the remaining 32 ongoing.
The meeting also included MP Rajashekhar Hitnal, MLA K Raghavendra Hitnal, MLC Hemalatha Nayak, Director of the Department of Medical Education Dr. Sujatha Rathod, and Koppal Deputy Commissioner Nalin Atul.
