Mandya district has something to celebrate as it jumped from 18th to 12th place in the SSLC exam rankings this year. Adding to the joy, MLA P Ravi Kumar has announced a personal initiative to support academic success among young women.

During the 2024–25 Annual Day of the Government Women’s Autonomous Degree College, the MLA promised a cash award of ₹1 lakh each to the highest-scoring girls in the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams—donating a total of ₹3 lakh from his own salary. Additionally, he committed ₹1 lakh for the upkeep and repairs of the college hostel.

Addressing the students, Kumar encouraged final-year learners to excel in their studies and elevate the reputation of the college, which is affiliated with Mandya University. He also urged young women to engage in governance, aim for leadership positions, and pursue higher studies for greater societal impact.

To support ambitious students aiming for civil services and other prestigious roles, Kumar revealed plans for free competitive exam coaching in Mandya.

Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi inspired students by stressing the importance of dedication and passion in achieving success, regardless of the profession. Theatre personality and actor Mandya Ramesh praised Indian women achievers like astronaut Sunita Williams and champion athletes, calling for theatre to be a platform for change and gender justice.

Actress and producer Sharmila Mandre, who began acting at 16, advised students to enjoy their youth while staying focused on future goals. Sports winners were also felicitated at the event.
