Mangalore University Updates Syllabus For Ug Programmes Ahead Of New Academic Year

With first-year undergraduate classes set to begin on August 12, the academic council of Mangalore University has approved the syllabus for UG programmes in science, arts, and commerce streams for the 2024-25 academic year, in line with the State Education Policy (SEP). The Board of Studies (BoS) prepared the syllabus, incorporating recent developments in each subject area.

Vice Chancellor Prof. P. L. Dharma, while chairing the meeting, noted that teachers had more freedom in designing the syllabus, resulting in a comprehensive update. The first and second semester syllabi for 11 BSc programmes and 16 BSc courses were approved. In the commerce stream, syllabi for 11 UG programmes, including various BCom specializations and BBA, were also approved. Additionally, the syllabus for two arts programmes and 27 core courses received approval.

The VC addressed concerns over the exclusion of the economics paper from the revised commerce syllabus, promising a joint meeting of the BoS Chairmen of Commerce and Economics to find a balanced solution. Guidelines for the BEd programme were also approved, allowing BEd students to apply for revaluation and personal review of answer scripts.
