Moodbidri: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Sub-Unit of Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering (MITE) was formally inaugurated on 15 November 2025 under the 18 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Mangalore (Army Wing), marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to student development.

Inauguration marks new opportunities for cadet training

The Chief Guest, Lt Col Rohit Prakash Rai (R. P. Rai), Commanding Officer of the 18 KAR BN NCC, inaugurated the NCC Office and unfurled the NCC flag, officially commencing the unit’s activities on campus.

Welcoming the gathering, Mr Padmanabha Kamath, CTO of MITE-NCC, acknowledged the support and vision of Mr Rajesh Chowta, Chairman of MITE, for establishing the NCC Sub-Unit and encouraging holistic education.

Chief Guest encourages values of discipline and national service

Addressing the cadets, Lt Col R. P. Rai highlighted the notable achievements of the Battalion, which saw exceptional performance at the RDC Inter-Group Competition 2025 with 17 cadets qualifying—one of the best results for the Mangalore Group.

He urged cadets to embrace the NCC’s core values of unity, discipline, leadership and service to the nation, while maintaining physical fitness and responsibility in their conduct.

The NCC Pledge was administered by CTO Padmanabha Kamath, formally inducting the first batch of MITE cadets.

Leadership emphasises character-building through NCC

In his presidential address, Dr Prashanth C. M, Principal of MITE, congratulated the cadets and stressed the vital role of NCC training in strengthening patriotism, teamwork and character development.

Deeksha L. J, Student Sports Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, while Mithul Ganesh, final-year Aeronautical Engineering student, anchored the programme. Dr C. R. Rajashekar, Vice Principal, was also present.
