The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued an unconditional and unqualified apology over the content of a chapter related to the judiciary in a Class 8 social science textbook.
The council announced that the book titled Exploring Society: India and Beyond (Part II) has been completely withdrawn following concerns regarding Chapter IV, titled “The Role of Judiciary in our Society.”

In a statement, NCERT said the entire book has been withdrawn and is no longer available for distribution.
The council expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and acknowledged the concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the content included in the chapter.
