NSUI Mangaluru Demands Physical Marks Cards from Mangalore University
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Mangaluru constituency, has called on Mangalore University to issue physical marks cards instead of relying solely on digital versions available in DigiLocker. They have warned of protests if their demands are not met.
Sahil Manchila, president of NSUI Mangaluru constituency, addressed reporters, stating that digital marks cards are failing to serve their intended purpose, leading to the loss of job opportunities and higher education prospects for recent graduates. He highlighted that it has been over 20 months since students from the 2022-23 academic year have been waiting for physical marks cards.
When NSUI representatives met with Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor PL Dharma and Registrar (Evaluation) H Devendrappa, they were informed that the decision to use DigiLocker was made by the government and could not be altered by the university. However, Sahil pointed out significant issues with the digital marks cards, including missing photos, incomplete marks, and placeholder entries for project scores. These issues have made the digital marks cards unacceptable to recruiters and educational institutions in India and abroad.
NSUI has urged Mangalore University to resolve the issue promptly, warning that students will protest if their demands are not addressed.
