In a rare intervention, the school education and literacy department has given three teachers at DK ZP Government Higher Primary School in Kaniyoor, Bantwal, a 10-day ultimatum to settle their personal disputes, which have been hampering students’ education.
The ongoing discord, which began seven months ago, has put the future of 44 students at risk. Parents, alarmed by the situation, gathered at the school on Friday, expressing frustration that their children were more aware of teacher conflicts than academics. One teacher had even planned extended leave, further worsening the crisis.
Officials from the Bantwal BEO office rushed to the school after learning about the protest. Parents revealed that they had alerted authorities two months earlier, but no action had been taken. During a meeting, the teachers acknowledged their mistakes, apologized, and agreed to resolve their issues.
Cluster Resource Person Chandrasekar B Katte confirmed that the intervention had led to a resolution. Bantwal BEO Manjunath MG stated that one teacher’s deputation was canceled, and another was instructed to return from leave. He warned that if conflicts persisted, disciplinary action would follow.
This case highlights the impact of personal disputes on education and the necessity of swift administrative action.
