Richmond Hill students to engage live with NASA astronauts aboard ISS
Students from Richmond Hill, New York, will soon get an extraordinary opportunity to interact with NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, who will answer pre-recorded STEM-related questions from the International Space Station (ISS).
The special 20-minute Earth-to-space call is scheduled for 12 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, March 26. Viewers can tune in via NASA+ and learn how to access NASA content across various platforms, including social media channels.
Hosted by Richmond Hill High School, a public school in Queens South, District 27, the event aims to ignite students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, encouraging them to pursue future STEM careers. Families of the students are also invited to join the session.
Media outlets interested in covering the event must reach out to Lilly Donaldson at Lily@arttechnically.org by 5 p.m., Monday, March 24.
For over two decades, astronauts have continuously operated aboard the ISS, conducting cutting-edge research, testing new technologies, and honing skills critical for future missions. Communication with NASA’s Mission Control in Houston happens around the clock via SCaN’s Near Space Network.
The research conducted aboard the ISS not only benefits life on Earth but also supports NASA’s broader exploration goals. As part of the Artemis program, astronauts will return to the Moon, paving the way for eventual human missions to Mars and inspiring the next generation of space explorers.
