Encouraging experiential learning in mathematics

Addressing the gathering, Rector Rev. Fr Melwyn Pinto SJ spoke about the fear many students often experience while learning mathematics.

He noted that innovative learning spaces like the Math Lab can help students understand mathematical concepts through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, making the subject more engaging and enjoyable.

He emphasised that models, visual aids and activity-based learning available in the lab will help students develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Tribute to parents through educational support

Commodore Cyril David Pereira and Mr Valerian Joseph Pereira shared their thoughts during the event and expressed gratitude to the institution for shaping their academic and personal values.

They said that establishing the RR Maths Foundation in memory of their parents was a humble tribute to the values and encouragement they received both at home and in school.

The donors encouraged students to overcome their fear of mathematics and approach the subject with curiosity, confidence and determination.

Supporting students through the RR Maths Foundation

As part of the RR Maths Foundation initiative, ten students have been initially selected to benefit from the programme.

The foundation aims to provide additional academic support and encourage excellence in mathematics through structured guidance and learning resources.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing appreciation to the donors, school management, staff members and everyone involved in making the event successful.

The inauguration of the RR Maths Foundation Math Lab marks an important step in promoting quality education and nurturing young minds to develop a lasting interest in mathematics.
