Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, signed a consultancy Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, on April 25, 2026, at its campus, marking a major step towards enhancing academic quality and industry-oriented education.
The collaboration aims to strengthen institutional development, align programmes with industry needs, and create new opportunities for students and faculty.
Dignitaries and delegation
The delegation from CHRIST University included Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar; Dr. Shrinivas Kulkarni, Head of the School of Business and Management; Dr. Vinay M, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Statistics and Data Science; and Dr. Sandhya D, Programme Coordinator (BBA).
The event began with a campus visit by the dignitaries, followed by the formal MoU signing ceremony.
Vision for collaboration
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director – MBA Programme, delivered the welcome address and outlined the vision behind the collaboration. Emphasising student outcomes, she stated that the true success of an MoU lies in the achievements of students.
Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman of Sahyadri College, highlighted the institution’s commitment to partnering with leading academic institutions. He noted that Sahyadri prioritises quality in education and aims to nurture skilled professionals and responsible citizens.
He also proposed introducing a two to three-month student exchange programme to enhance learning experiences and exposure.
Strengthening academic programmes
The MoU focuses on the development and enhancement of newly introduced programmes such as Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
Dr. S. S. Injaganeri, Principal of Sahyadri College, presented an overview of the institution and highlighted its focus on quality education, research, and implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 reforms.
Knowledge sharing and institutional growth
Dr. Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar of CHRIST University, shared insights into the institution’s academic practices and strengths, expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration.
The MoU aims to strengthen faculty competencies through training, workshops, and mentoring initiatives. It will also support Outcome-Based Education (OBE), accreditation readiness (NAAC and NBA), and improved academic governance.
Opportunities for students and faculty
The partnership will facilitate collaborative research, student and faculty exchange programmes, and the development of digital infrastructure and virtual learning environments.
These initiatives are expected to enhance experiential learning and provide students with industry-relevant skills.

The MoU was formally signed and exchanged between representatives of both institutions, marking the beginning of a long-term academic partnership.
