The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)-2024 has announced a special round of counselling to fill the 13,500 vacant seats in the NIT+ System, starting from July 31. Despite five rounds of counselling by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2024), these seats remain unfilled across 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs), and 37 GFTIs (Central/State Govt Funded Technical Institutions).
Out of the 42,200 available seats, around 41,000 were allotted to candidates, with approximately 28,700 candidates accepting their seats. The remaining vacant seats will now be addressed through the CSAB Special Round counselling, managed by NITK-Surathkal.
Candidates eligible under JoSAA-2024 business rules, including those seeking to upgrade their seats and new applicants meeting the criteria, can register for the CSAB 2024 Special Round Counselling. Fresh registration is mandatory for all participants at the CSAB portal (https://csab.nic.in), starting on July 31.
To assist in the process, 52 document verification centres and help centres have been established nationwide. Additionally, a multilingual helpdesk operating in 10 Indian languages is available at CSAB headquarters at NITK Surathkal.
