Following the II PU-1 results, degree college admissions in Karnataka are gaining momentum, with specialised courses witnessing the highest demand.
Traditional favourites like BCom and BCA continue to attract students, but now with a clear preference for specialised tracks. Kristu Jayanti College, which received over 35,000 applications, reported top interest in BCA courses with cybersecurity and IoT, and BCom combinations like ACCA, CMA, analytics, and retail banking.
Fr Augustine George, the college principal, noted that the demand will spike further once other board results are declared. Mount Carmel College has also responded to this trend, launching new BCom programs in fintech, digital banking, and business analytics. Its BBA specialisations, especially in healthcare management and fintech, are already through multiple rounds of entrance tests.
Christ University, which has received over 1 lakh applications, sees soaring interest in BCA, BBA, BCom, law, and psychology, along with BTech in AI, ML, and data science. Though most cut-offs remain stable, select tech and law courses could see a rise.
Colleges like Jyoti Nivas and NMKRV confirm the same patterns. Commerce dominates, while science courses are expected to pick up post-CET results, especially in computer science.
The shift clearly signals a student tilt towards industry-relevant skills and future-ready degrees in a fast-evolving job market.
