The SSLC Examination-1 for the 2024-25 academic session wrapped up successfully in Dharwad on Friday, witnessing an impressive 98.3% attendance rate. Out of the 28,666 students registered, 28,010 appeared for the third language paper on the final day, according to officials from the Department of School Education and Literacy. Notably, no incidents of malpractice were reported throughout the exam period.

This year, the district administration implemented a focused academic initiative titled Mission Vidyakashi, led by the Deputy Commissioner. The mission aimed to boost pass percentages through sustained efforts by teachers across the year.

Under the program, extensive workshops and training sessions were conducted for educators at both taluk and district levels. Teachers were tasked with conducting weekly subject-wise tests, assessing student performance, and submitting regular progress reports to the education department.

While many teachers, especially in private-aided schools, supported frequent assessments, several voiced concerns over the added burden of documentation. “We spent more time preparing reports than teaching. That energy could’ve gone into deeper learning sessions,” remarked one teacher.

Now that the first of the three SSLC exams has concluded, all eyes are on how Mission Vidyakashi has influenced outcomes—particularly in government schools where resource constraints are common.

The coming months will reveal whether this data-driven, performance-focused initiative can lead to improved academic results or if it demands fine-tuning.
