Mangaluru: St. Aloysius College Higher Primary School celebrated the Feast of its founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola, with devotion, gratitude, and enthusiasm through a Eucharistic celebration, cultural programme, and felicitation ceremony.
The celebrations began on July 30 with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at St. Aloysius Chapel. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joyson Vas SJ and attended by Catholic students and staff of the school.
The main feast day programme was held on July 31 in the school auditorium, where fifth-grade students presented a vibrant cultural programme.
The chief guest, Ms. Nilisha Angelin D’Souza, an alumna of the institution, addressed the gathering. An audiologist and speech-language pathologist, she holds a Master’s degree in Audiology and is pursuing her PhD in Audiology at KMC, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. She also serves as a professional master of ceremonies and is a member of the Executive Committee of the St. Aloysius Higher Primary School Alumni Association.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address by Gourav Shenoy. Students Ashwini and Jaipreet highlighted the life and legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, after which a feast day greeting song was presented.
A major highlight of the programme was a skit depicting the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, portraying his transformation from a life centred on worldly pleasures to one dedicated to faith and service.
Addressing the students, Ms. Nilisha Angelin D’Souza encouraged them to imbibe Ignatian values of faith, discipline, compassion, and service. She urged students to remain grateful to their teachers and strive to become responsible individuals.
Students honoured for achievements
Competitions were organised as part of the feast celebrations, and the winners were felicitated by the chief guest along with Headmistress Mrs. Jositta Noronha, PTA Vice President Ms. Lavina Veigas, and Assistant Headmaster Mr. Liya D’Souza.
Students who excelled in the Rising Stars Spell Bee, Maestro Handwriting, Arithmetic Genius, inter-school table tennis championship, karate, and swimming were also honoured during the programme.
The cultural programme featured an energetic dance performance by students, adding colour and excitement to the celebrations.
The event was compered by Elroy Noronha, Afsana Mulla, and Sandra Lobo. Shravan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful celebration.
The programme concluded with the singing of the Institutional Anthem.
