Mangaluru: St Aloysius Pre-University College concluded PULSE 2026, its annual inter-class talent hunt, with vibrant grand finale events held under the theme “Rise with Talent, Lead with Humanity.” The month-long celebration showcased students’ creativity, artistic excellence, teamwork, and leadership, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to holistic education rooted in Jesuit values.
The annual talent hunt commenced on June 8 with the unveiling of the official logo and the announcement of the event theme. The inauguration marked the beginning of one of the college’s most anticipated student events, encouraging participants to pursue excellence while embracing empathy, leadership, and service. An energetic flash mob by students added colour and excitement to the opening ceremony.
Month-long celebration of creativity
More than an inter-class competition, PULSE 2026 served as a dynamic platform for students from the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams to discover, nurture, and showcase their talents beyond academics. Throughout the month, the campus came alive with enthusiasm as students participated in a wide range of literary, artistic, cultural, and performing arts competitions.
The event featured both individual and group competitions catering to diverse talents. Individual events included poetry writing in Kannada, Hindi, and English, story writing, Pick and Speak, Bharatanatyam, mono acting, face painting, pencil sketching, mehendi, and cooking without fire. Group competitions such as folk singing, reel making, and Mad Ad encouraged teamwork, innovation, and creative expression.
The month-long event culminated in spectacular variety entertainment competitions featuring music, dance, drama, and visual performances. The grand finale reflected the remarkable dedication, enthusiasm, and artistic brilliance of the students, drawing an overwhelming response from the audience.
Talent must serve humanity
Addressing the gathering, Principal Rev. Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ reflected on the true meaning of talent through the inspiring story associated with legendary violinist Niccolò Paganini, who is believed to have delivered an extraordinary performance using an ordinary violin.
He reminded students that excellence does not depend on external resources but on confidence, perseverance, discipline, and dedication. Encouraging them to recognise their unique abilities, he urged students to embrace challenges with humility and use their talents to serve others.
He emphasised that true leadership lies in inspiring positive change, echoing the spirit of PULSE 2026.
Campus Minister Rev. Fr Anthony Derrick SJ congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and appreciated the wide range of talents displayed throughout the event.
He observed that while some talents shine on stage, many others flourish quietly behind the scenes, each equally valuable. Encouraging students to celebrate diversity and appreciate one another’s strengths, he reminded them that diversity remains the institution’s greatest strength and future.

The valedictory ceremony included the felicitation of winners across various competitions as well as the student convenors who played a vital role in organising the month-long event.
