Mangaluru: St Aloysius Pre-University College celebrated academic excellence with a grand Felicitation Ceremony honouring the outstanding achievers of the II PU Board Examination 2026. The institution recorded an impressive overall pass percentage of 99.64 per cent, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.
Held at Loyola Hall, the programme brought together students, parents, faculty members, and well-wishers to celebrate the achievements of the graduating batch and recognise their dedication, perseverance, and hard work.
Principal highlights importance of effort and perseverance
The ceremony commenced with a prayer by the College Choir, followed by a welcome dance that set an inspiring tone for the event.
Welcoming the gathering, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira SJ, Principal of the college, emphasised that the celebration was not merely about examination results but about the journey that made those achievements possible.
Drawing a comparison to the unseen fasteners that hold a chair together, he noted that hard work, sacrifices, discipline, and emotional resilience often remain unnoticed but form the foundation of success.
Congratulating the students, he encouraged them to remain consistent in their efforts, stay humble, and continue striving for excellence while living by the college motto, Lucet et Ardet (Shine to Enkindle), which inspires Aloysians to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Toppers express gratitude
The toppers from the three streams addressed the gathering and shared their experiences.
Ms. Amulya S., topper in the Science stream, Ms. Rachel Dsouza, topper in Commerce, and Ms. Jane V. Moras, topper in Arts, expressed gratitude to the institution, teachers, and parents for their constant support and encouragement throughout their academic journey.
They acknowledged the role played by their mentors and families in helping them achieve academic success.
Chief guest encourages lifelong learning
The chief guest, Chartered Accountant Naveen Narayana, an alumnus of the institution, described his return to the college as an emotional experience.
Reflecting on his student days, he remarked that while students may leave their school, the values and lessons learned there remain with them throughout life.
He encouraged students to remain curious and open to learning, noting that success in today’s world requires continuous learning, adaptability, independent thinking, effective communication, and leadership skills.
He reminded students that the future belongs to those who believe in their dreams and continue working towards them with determination.
Rector urges students to believe in themselves
Rev. Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, congratulated the students, teachers, and parents on the outstanding results.
Recalling his own experiences as a student, he shared the challenges he faced and highlighted the importance of self-belief.
He encouraged students to view the word “impossible” as “I am possible” and stressed that attitude often plays a more important role in success than aptitude.
He also urged students to remain respectful, grateful, and compassionate while celebrating inclusivity and humanity in their daily lives.
Over 1,100 distinction holders felicitated
One of the major highlights of the ceremony was the felicitation of 21 state-ranking students and more than 1,109 distinction holders.
Students who secured full marks in all optional subjects were also honoured in the presence of their proud parents and well-wishers.
The programme was attended by Rev. Fr. Anthony Derrick SJ, Campus Minister; Mr. Muralikrishna G.M., Vice Principal; Deans Ms. Kiran Shetty and Mr. Inas Dais, along with faculty members and invited guests.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Joshma Lobo, Programme Convenor, while Ms. Lilliann Benjamin compered the event.
