Mangaluru: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with the St Aloysius Alumni Association, hosted a solemn Golden Reunion and Convocation Ceremony of the 1974, 1975 and 1976 batches at the Robert Sequeira Hall, celebrating five decades of enduring association between the institution and its alumni.
The event marked a significant milestone in the University’s history, honouring alumni who completed 50 years since their academic journey at the institution and recognising their contributions across diverse walks of life.
A nostalgic beginning to a memorable day
The Golden Reunion celebrations commenced at 8.30 am with a symbolic flag hoisting ceremony near the Administrative Block of St Aloysius University. This was followed by a communal breakfast at Sahodaya Hall, providing alumni with an opportunity to reconnect with classmates, revisit memories, and relive their student days in a warm and nostalgic atmosphere.
The formal proceedings that followed were smoothly compered by Dr Severine Pinto and Mr Abhishek Shetty, who guided the programme with grace and clarity.

Warm welcome and reflections on legacy
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Sunil Kunder K., Chairman of Golden Reunion 2026, expressed pride in the achievements of the alumni and joy at their return to their alma mater. He noted that the Golden Reunion was not just a celebration of years passed, but a tribute to the values, friendships, and lifelong learning nurtured at St Aloysius.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr Ivan D. Frank of the 1976 Commerce batch shared personal reflections on the formative role played by the institution in shaping careers and character. He also spoke about the remarkable evolution of St Aloysius over the decades, while maintaining its core commitment to holistic education.
Distinguished guests grace the occasion
The ceremony was graced by B. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice President, ISR, Nitte University, as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Praveen Martis, Vice-Chancellor of St Aloysius University.
In his presidential address, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ highlighted the enduring Aloysian spirit and the role of alumni as ambassadors of the institution’s values in society.

Felicitation of Golden alumni
The highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of distinguished alumni. A total of 45 alumni from the batches of 1974, 1975 and 1976, along with alumni from the 1970 SSLC and 1971 PUC batches, were formally honoured by the Vice-Chancellor.
In addition, three retired teachers and one librarian from the 1975–76 era were also felicitated, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to shaping generations of students.
Each honouree was recognised for completing 50 years since their association with the institution, marking a golden milestone that symbolises loyalty, achievement, and gratitude towards their alma mater.
A celebration of bonds beyond classrooms
The Golden Reunion stood as a testament to the strong and lasting bond between St Aloysius University and its alumni. Participants described the event as emotionally enriching, offering a rare opportunity to reconnect with teachers, classmates, and the campus that shaped their formative years.
The presence of Ronald Nazareth, Registrar of the University, along with several other dignitaries, added significance to the occasion.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Dinesh Nayak, Convener of the Golden Reunion, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the University management, organising committee members, alumni, and all supporters for making the event a resounding success.
The Golden Reunion of the 1974, 1975 and 1976 batches not only celebrated the passage of time but also reaffirmed the timeless values of friendship, service, and excellence that define the Aloysian legacy.
