Mangaluru: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organised a Professional Day programme at Eric Mathias Hall on its campus, bringing together students, academic leaders and industry professionals to celebrate professionalism, mentorship and academic excellence.

The event was organised by the School of Commerce in collaboration with KVC Academy and aimed at inspiring students to pursue professional careers with integrity, discipline and a strong ethical foundation.

Platform for professional learning

The programme began with a solemn prayer, invoking divine blessings for the success of the event. Dignitaries were formally escorted to the dais, marking the official commencement of the programme attended by nearly 250 students.

The Professional Day initiative was designed to highlight the importance of professionalism, mentorship and responsible practice while offering students an opportunity to interact with experienced professionals and academic leaders.

Inspiring addresses by distinguished speakers

Several eminent speakers addressed the gathering and shared insights on professional growth and ethical practice.

CA Kiran Vasant delivered a motivational address focusing on mentoring, professional discipline and the importance of building strong character while pursuing demanding careers. He encouraged students to develop resilience and integrity when facing career challenges.

Dr Manuel Tauro, Dean, reflected on the role of educators in guiding students toward responsible professional conduct. He emphasised the importance of academic stewardship and the responsibility of institutions in shaping ethical professionals.

Dr Mamatha, Programme Director, highlighted the significance of maintaining vision, adaptability and relevance in higher education while ensuring institutional growth.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, delivered the keynote address emphasising holistic education, discipline and the pursuit of excellence. He encouraged students to strive for professional integrity and lifelong learning, reminding them that academic success must be complemented by ethical values and responsible leadership.

Felicitation of students for professional achievements

One of the key highlights of the programme was a special felicitation ceremony recognising students who achieved milestones in professional education.

A total of 43 students were honoured during the ceremony for their outstanding achievements in Chartered Accountancy examinations.

Among them, 18 students were recognised for clearing the CA Foundation examination, 24 students were felicitated for clearing the CA Intermediate examination, and one student was honoured for successfully completing the CA Final examination.

The felicitation ceremony symbolised appreciation for the students’ dedication, perseverance and commitment to professional excellence.

Interactive session provides career guidance

An interactive question-and-answer session conducted by CA Shashidar Pai proved to be one of the most engaging segments of the programme.

During the session, students received practical guidance on examination strategies, career planning and professional ethics. The interactive format allowed students to clarify doubts and gain valuable insights into navigating the challenges of professional education and the corporate world.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organisers and students for their participation and support.

The Professional Day celebration served as a meaningful platform for encouraging academic excellence and strengthening the professional aspirations of students at St Aloysius University.
