A dispute erupted at CMS School, Nigdi Pradhikaran, when a Class 10 student claimed she was initially barred from entering her SSC exam for wearing a burqa. Police intervention ensured she was eventually allowed to write the exam.

Arriving with her father at 10:15 am, the student was stopped at the gate and asked to remove her burqa. She refused but agreed to verification checks. When entry was still denied, she called her father, who then contacted the police. The delay cost her 20-25 minutes of crucial revision time.

Her father, Mehboob Shaikh, alleged school staff initially insisted she leave her burqa outside. However, CMS School Chairman T P Vijayan refuted the claim, stating they only sought to confirm her identity per exam guidelines.

Nigdi Police Inspector Shatrughan Mali confirmed the student was ultimately permitted to take the exam. PCMC Education Officer Sangeeta Bangar clarified that authorities had no objections to her attire but needed to match her face with her hall ticket.

Despite the resolution, the incident has sparked debates over identity, religious attire, and exam regulations.
