Sullia, Karnataka, Aug 22: A Kannada Medium school in Sullia is pioneering a unique educational initiative by converting its playground into a paddy field to enhance students’ understanding of agriculture. This innovative approach aims to provide hands-on learning experiences that complement traditional classroom teachings.

Known for its emphasis on environmental education, the school has previously integrated lessons on nature and conservation into its curriculum. This academic year, it has taken a significant leap by establishing a functioning paddy field on the playground, which often becomes muddy and unusable during the rainy season.

The field preparation involved enriching the soil with sand, ash, and manure, followed by guidance from experienced paddy farmers. Students actively participated in planting the paddy, gaining practical insights into crop production under the mentorship of Nityananda, a local paddy expert.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, offering students a tangible farming experience and fostering a deeper connection to agriculture.
