The British Council recently hosted the 11th edition of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2025 in India, honoring the exceptional accomplishments of alumni from UK higher education institutions across various fields. This prestigious event was graced by Lindy Cameron CB OBE, the British High Commissioner to India, alongside representatives from UK universities, business leaders, and prominent figures from diverse sectors.

The ceremony saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Chiki Sarkar, Founder & Publisher of Juggernaut Books, Sam Dalrymple, Writer, Filmmaker, and Historian, and Sparsh Ahuja, Filmmaker & Creative Producer.

Awards were presented in four key categories: Science and Sustainability, Culture and Creativity, Social Action, and Business and Innovation.

The Science and Sustainability Award was awarded to Prof. Aashish Mathur, an alumnus of Ulster University, for his outstanding contributions in Nanotechnology. He is currently a professor at UPES.

The Culture and Creativity Award went to Gayatri Madkekar, a sports psychologist and alumnus of Leeds Beckett University, known for her pioneering work in sports and performance psychology in India.

The Social Action Award recognized Raju Kendre, an alumnus of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, for his remarkable efforts in empowering marginalized students through his Eklavya India Foundation.

The Business and Innovation Award was given to Mayank Bherulal Nagori, founder of Gud Gum, a sustainable, biodegradable chewing gum brand aimed at combating plastic pollution. Mayank is an alumnus of the University of Nottingham.

These finalists now have the opportunity to be selected as global winners, where they will be invited to the UK for a special networking experience, engaging with key industry leaders and fellow honorees.
