Speaking to DH, Adhish expressed his happiness at receiving the top rank from the university. “Teachers were very supportive and helped me with study materials and guided me on writing the exams. I used non-visual desktop access on my laptop, which read all the study materials to me, helping me to grasp everything.”

He further credited Enable India, an NGO in Bengaluru, for teaching him to use the software. “I was attentive in class and prepared my notes. The teachers also shared their PPTs used during lectures, which helped me a lot.”

Adhish shared that his parents initially dropped him at college due to his visual impairment. After training at the National Association for the Blind (NAB) in Bengaluru, he began walking to college on his own. “One of my lecturers, Dr. Charles, initially taught me to use the cane on campus. NAB training helped me walk by the roadside using the cane,” he added with a smile.

Adhish, the son of Sudhir Uchil, an MRPL employee, and Gunashree Uchil, aims to pursue an MBA. He is currently preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to gain admission to IIM, with the exam scheduled for November.
