Mangaluru: Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences (YSAHS) observed World Kidney Day with a meaningful initiative combining healthcare support and environmental awareness, aligned with the global theme “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People and Protecting the Planet.”
The programme was organised by the Unit of Renal Dialysis Technology, bringing together students, faculty, doctors, and administrators in a collaborative effort to promote kidney health and sustainable practices.
Food fest supports patient care initiatives
As part of the celebrations, a Food Fest held at Tannirbhavi Beach on February 14, 2026, successfully raised ₹34,249, which was utilised for patient welfare and environmental initiatives.
The funds were used to distribute dialysis care kits to patients, supporting those undergoing treatment, while also contributing to sapling distribution to encourage eco-conscious living.
Focus on awareness and sustainability
The initiative highlighted the growing need to integrate healthcare awareness with environmental responsibility, reinforcing the idea that sustainable practices can contribute to overall well-being.
Through this programme, YSAHS emphasised the importance of early awareness of kidney health, preventive care, and supporting patients undergoing dialysis.
