Mumbai: Aamir Khan and his partner Gauri Spratt began a new chapter in their lives after tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at the actor’s Bandra residence on July 5.

The wedding, attended by their children, close family members and a few friends, featured elegant traditional attire. While Aamir wore an ivory dhoti-kurta, Gauri opted for a pastel-coloured lehenga complemented by layered jewellery and fresh flowers in her hair. However, it was her bespoke ruby wedding ring that became the highlight of the ceremony.

Rare Madagascar ruby steals the spotlight

Designed by luxury jewellery brand QWEEN, the custom-made ring features an ultra-rare natural cabochon-cut ruby sourced from Madagascar.

According to QWEEN co-founder and CEO Amit Kumar, sourcing the gemstone alone took more than three months because of its exceptional rarity.

He described the ruby as “rarer than one in a million” and said the ring was created to resemble a piece of royal jewellery rather than a conventional wedding band.

Crafted over 256 hours

The luxury ring required more than 256 hours of craftsmanship and involved 131 pairs of skilled artisans working on its design, gemstone setting and finishing.

Unlike traditional gemstone rings, the ruby is mounted within a crown-inspired gold setting. The smooth cabochon cut enhances the gemstone’s rich colour, while intricate milgrain detailing and a scalloped gold gallery add a regal finish.

Designed as an heirloom

The designers said the ring was conceived as a couture heirloom that could be passed down through generations rather than simply serving as a wedding accessory.

Its rare Madagascar ruby, handcrafted detailing and royal-inspired design have quickly made it one of the most talked-about celebrity wedding jewellery pieces in recent years.
