New Delhi – At the trailer launch of his wife Kajol’s upcoming horror thriller Maa, actor-producer Ajay Devgn addressed speculation around their daughter Nysa Devgn’s Bollywood debut. When asked why Nysa wasn’t cast in the film, Ajay clarified, “She’s currently not interested in this kind of work.”
The event, held in Mumbai on Thursday, saw the lead cast and crew interact with the media. Maa marks another collaboration between Kajol and Devgn, with the latter backing the film as producer.
Kajol, who plays a fierce mother battling supernatural forces to protect her child, opened up about the emotional depth of the role. “As a mother, roles like this hit differently. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to lose a child,” she said. She admitted that while she usually keeps emotions at bay on set, this time, “tears came more naturally because the story felt so personal.”
Ajay and Kajol have been married since 1999 and are parents to Nysa (22) and Yug (14). Just last month, the couple shared heartfelt birthday messages for Nysa on Instagram. Ajay posted a mirror selfie with her, writing, “Selfies only happen because Nysa wouldn’t take no for an answer…Happy Birthday, my baby! Love you endlessly.”
Kajol’s tribute featured pictures of Nysa in a yellow ethnic outfit, captioned, “Am I her blueprint or is she mine? So much to learn from you always… love you my darling girl!”
