A biographical film chronicling the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was officially announced on Wednesday. Titled Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, the film is based on Shantanu Gupta’s book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. Along with the announcement, a motion poster featuring actor Anant Joshi in the role of Yogi Adityanath was unveiled.

In the motion poster, Joshi is seen portraying Yogi Adityanath as he renounces worldly comforts to serve the people. Paresh Rawal’s voice can be heard in the background, delivering a powerful line: “Vo kuch nahi chahta tha, sab usko chahte the. Janta ne usko sarkar bana diya” (He didn’t wish for anything. Everyone loved him. People made him a leader).

Directed by Maharani 2 fame Ravindra Gautam, Ajey also stars Dinesh Lal Yadav, Ajay Mengi, Pavan Malhotra, Rajesh Khattar, Garima Vikrant Singh, and Sarwar Ahuja. The film’s title is derived from Yogi Adityanath’s birth name, Ajay Singh Bisht.

Scheduled for a theatrical release in 2025, Ajey will be available in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film’s music is composed by Meet Bros, with writing credits going to Dilip Bachchan Jha and Priyank Dubey. The cinematography is helmed by Vishnu Rao, while Uday Prakash Singh serves as the production designer.

Director Ravindra Gautam shared, “This film is incredibly inspiring for the youth of our country, depicting the journey of a simple middle-class boy from a remote village in Uttarakhand who rises to become the Chief Minister of India’s most populous state. His journey embodies determination, selflessness, faith, and leadership, and we’ve worked tirelessly to do justice to his extraordinary life.”

The film is produced by Ritu Mengi under the banner of Samrat Cinematics.
