In the most recent installment of Shark Tank India 3, two filmmakers from Telugu origin, namely director Raj Madiraju and producer Umamaheshwar Ch, based in Hyderabad, presented their forthcoming project, Krishnrama, as a sequel to their 2023 film Krishnarama. Seeking an investment of Rs 2 crore for a 30 percent stake, they aimed to garner support for their venture. Anupam Mittal expressed reservations, pointing out a critical flaw in their proposal. Conversely, Aman Gupta was impressed to learn that the filmmakers managed to produce the film for just Rs 2.62 crore, already yielding a profit of Rs 28 lakh even before its release.
During the discussion, Anupam Mittal reminisced about his past collaborations with directors Raj and DK, recalling instances where he invested in their projects, albeit without success. He candidly shared his experiences of financial losses, citing examples of unsuccessful ventures. Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of the film industry, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the filmmakers, drawing parallels to his past dealings with now-prominent Bollywood directors. Anupam elaborated on the challenges faced by film producers, highlighting the steep learning curve encountered by newcomers in the industry. When pressed by Aman Gupta about the extent of his losses, Anupam revealed that they amounted to several crores.
Shark Tank India 3 made its debut on January 22, 2024, featuring a panel of esteemed Sharks, including Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Peyush Bansal, Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh, Amit Jain, Ritesh Agarwal, Azhar Iqubal, Radhika Gupta, and renowned film producer Ronnie Screwvala.
